The name "Lame Bums" itself is ironic: the citizens are among the hardest working in the region, with an average rating of 94%.

The government is non-existant compared to the governments of other nations, however it gets a lot done. Policy leans generally to the right. Gay marriage and abortion are almost non-issues - they are outlawed - the death penalty is used for serious crimes, and the military sucks up massive portions of the government funds.

There is no tax on any money below $40,000 (about $55K dollars), and the rest is 1%.

The main body is a 200 member body called the Senate, which votes on many major issues. They meet once a week. There is a President, a Vice President, and several close secretaries. If a vote is tied in the Senate, the Vice President votes to break it. The senators are voted in once every four years, with no limit on terms. The President is voted in up to four terms, again four years each.

It is classified as a republic.

There are many political parties in Lame Bums, with power achieved through strongarming and coalitions. No single party holds a clear majority in the Senate, but the center-right National Republicans are the largest with 68 senators. They have formed a coalition with the far-right National Alliance, with 39 senators, to dominate politics in the new century. They stay in power through popular support and pitting liberal incumbents against each other. The issues are about morality and national defense.

In the center stands the Conservative party. The name is off, since the main issues have shifted far to the right. They call for limited abortions and civil unions but not legan gay marriage. They beleive in moderate everything, from military to education . They stand united with the Right against welfare however. They hold 17 senators and have been squeezed by both sides.

On the left is the Progressive party. It was recently founded and is propped up an egotistical billionaire who got his money as a trial lawyer and now pushes what he calls "conservative" ideas. He was booted out of several other countries because of his "far right" ideas. Now he is far left. This party has 9 seats in the Senate.

On the far left is the Social Democrats, a remnant whose stronghold is a region taken over by the Lame Bums military twenty years ago. They were considered moderates in the old country, now they are branded as communists, freedom haters, and hippies. They have taken fire nationwide, and the area has seceeded from the rest of Lame Bums. They hold no seats, as they have been outlawed by order of the Fuhrer.

The remainder has responded wiith pessimism and rage.

Lastly, there was recently a split off of the National Alliance. Calling themselves the New Aryan Order, they adopted a scorching platform which calls for extermination for over half of Lame Bums' population, a psychotic dictatorship, and a massive conscription. They hold considerable sway in the west parts of the country, hold 67 seats in the Senate, and has elected a new President, Adolf Gorring.

He has fused the positions of President and Senate leader to make the position of the Fuhrer. His Vice Fuhrer is Rolf Rohm, former commander of the SA.

They have just come into office, and their approval rating stands at 90%.
